MTCCD Scavenger Hunt

Follow the map and answer the 10 questions below. Submit your answers on the Major Taylor Cycling Club of Dayton website at: https://www.majortaylordayton.org. Go to the bottom of the webpage and use “Send Major Taylor Cycling Club of Dayton a Message.” Correct entries will be eligible for a prize drawing. Total distance will be about 8-10 miles, depending on how much you explore.

Start at the Riverscape Pavilion 237 E Monument Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45402

Question 1: Riverscape is fun in so many ways, find a statue of children playing called _____ ____?

Head east on the bike way to the Webster Bridge

Question 2: How may bridges were there in Dayton in 1932?

Turn left after bridge into Deeds Park.

Question 3: (it’s really a task) Take your picture with a statue of two famous brothers from Dayton.

Follow the bike trail north along the Great Miami River and Kettering Field.

Question 4: Kettering Field use to be called ______ Field and it was an early military aircraft testing field.

Continue North and cross Helena Street into Island Park, ride a loop around the entire park before crossing the bike bridge into Triangle Park.

Question 5: On the Band Shell at the north end of the park there are two female relief figures one is holding a mask, the other is holding what musical instrument?

Head over the bike bridge into Triangle Park. After the bridge turn sharply to the right and follow the trail towards a fenced area at the base of the hill. You will see a gravel parking lot on the left. Go into it and walk up to the fenced area on your right to read the historic sign.

Question 6: The first NFL game was played here in Dayton. What were the team’s names?

Continue through parking lot and cross Ridge Ave into Dewese Park. Continue north through Dewese park.

Question 7: What is the name of the Space Center at the Boonshoft Museum?

Head through Dewese park and cross Siebenthaler Ave into Wegerzyn Gardens Metro Park. Take a little ride or stroll around the theater and gardens to answer the last question.

Question 8: Name at least three different animal statues or topiaries that you saw.
